By the way, does anyone have a fully completed Compendium? I'm missing a few items and I don't know how to get them.
Most of those are probably potions? I know one of them is the Bottled Mana from before my Compendium data was erased
These are past the legendaries, so I'm assuming they're obtained from special events? Maybe ones only found in endless mode? I know the one on the rightmost side is the Note from the Halloween Candy Competition and I think it's unobtainanle at this point.
I think most of these are just the different types of training from the training dummy, which I guess I just have to find a few more times.
Somehow I'm missing one rare item between the Magus Hat and the Mesmerising Orb which is really irritating. Anyone know what this is called?
Edit: I did some thinking and realized this one's the mana shield which I've seen before but never picked up.
so out of those items, 2 of them are from getting to later loops (3+) in infinite mode. the other 2 are regular potions, your best bet to finding them would be checking shops and rerolling. Let me know if you want the names of any or all of them.
Decided to utilize the glitch again because why not
Casually flexing with enough excess legendary items to make my personal tier list.
Triple Merged Heart of the Ocean on the Karakai!!! 6 Aquatic synergy on one monster alone is hilarious to see. The +24 mana regen is kind of crazy, but since Karakai's mana is already at 15, 2 Merged Heart of the Ocean and 1 Merged Circlet of Acuity would work better. I do think something starts breaking once there's more mana regen than mana cost because it should theoretically be instantaneous casts all the time but that would probably crash the game pretty fast. Merged Circlet of Acuity is already powerful enough, especially with such insane mana regen.
Double Merged Bloodmist Mask means over 400 Speed, which also bugged out the game a little. The damage output was incredible though.
For some reason, having +400 speed (or even just +200 speed) caused the attack bar to already have a little bit filled up, even before or after battles. Probably just a visual bug, or related to having too much speed.
Nothing too incredible about the other four, besides of course their merged legendaries. Sure, they probably all could've been fused with two other merged legendaries, but after two hours of just straight-out grinding it just gets boring being overpowered.
Really, the best part is just showing off the legendaries.
P.S. Every time I reloaded a run, all my previous effects like my +1 luck synergy from the coin flip, my Precarious Peak blessing, and my Dark Wisdom bonus from the evil-looking snake disappeared. I don't know why.
Here I am to show my best lv 3 run! 11 Loop completed. Could have gone further but I had to go to bed and I could not save, unfortunately.
I found some strats that, together, were amazing. Don't know what can be stronger than this ( Skimander/Chip cheese aside, of course).
TEAM NAME: WINNIE THE BEAST
There were many strong things about this team and run.
1. SPOOKY FOOD
I've already used in the past Woad and Mabek together to get lots of food since the beginning, thanks to Dark Harvest. The tricky part of this strat is to make sure one or more monsters die during the fights, without losing them. Usually one monster only, so that you don't lose wounds thanks to Haunted, but sometimes you want to make more die because you know you are going to rest later.
2. HUNGRY BEAR (+Lucky Items)
Urso. I found him immediately after Woad and Mabek and the obvious idea came to mind. I didn't think it would have worked this well though.
I gave him everything. Carrots aside (he does not need INT), I gave him all the food I had.
But I was also very lucky. I found the Unraveling Prism and gave it to him to boost his defense. I've always overlooked the Unraveling Prism because it eliminates monster abilities, but Urso's active ability is not that great, for me. And this item helps TONS with poison! I did not have a single healer in the party (Woad aside, who heals themselves at the expense of the party), but Unraveling Prism was enough to compensate!
You can see in the pic that Urso reached insane stats, with 999 Str, more than 4k HP, 800+ Def and almost 200 Spd.
It had: Unraveling Prism + Shattershard AND Living Armor + Harvester.
This monster was... Invincible. He never died. Never. And did tons of dmg. He healed himself, he tanked, he... He was unstoppable.
After a while He and Woad were the true stars of the team. You can imagine why.
3. WYRMLET BEING WYRMLET
Wyrmlet with Spyglass and 2 Hearts of the Ocean kept casting, giving dmg, silencing and giving mana to Urso in front of him. As always, one of the best monsters around. Maybe the best one.
4. PARRA THE THIEF WITH TONS OF HP
Urso already had 2k+ HP when Parra was still a little chick. That's why I used Emboldened Soul on her. And voilà. Evolve her and you have a Parra with tons of HP. I gave every carrot I obtained with Dark Harvest to her and Wyrmlet and I had a very strong tank and dmg dealer.
5. GOOD SYNERGIES (but still not perfect)
Haunted, Max Lucky, Max Magical, Guardian, Tactician and Aquatic together.
I'm sad I did not have the chance to fuse some living root to have Nature, damn it.
6. NUTS = MONEY
After a while, every monster had 15 mana, so I had no use for the nuts that reduce it. Dark Harvest gave me lots of them and I sold them for 100 each, trying then to keep the mana to power up Parra or spend it to find potions to heal wounds. It was great.
PROBLEMS AND WEAK POINTS
In the last loops I started to have some (minor?) problems. Urso and Woad never died, but the others did and the wounds count started raising too much.
Karakai was strong, with his Moonbeam, but too squishy. It's good for this team that some monsters die, but not so frequently. He kept going forward by himself and die against someone. Damn. Ahahahah. Still cool.
Mablack was also kinda squishy. His ability, Dying Breath, is AMAZING though. It scales in time, giving tons of dmg. Especially agains enemies that occupy the entire field. But yeah, very squishy. I love this doggo and it's necessary if you want Max Lucky synergy, but yeah, it's a risk.
Wyrmlet was also squishy and easy to die. Ideally, I think you should find Parra first and Wyrmlet later, to give emboldened soul to Wyrmlet and make him the 3 tank, than giving HP to someone else like Karakai or Parra to tank. (Or even not choosing Karakai for another tank, but then you have to find another Magus Hat to reach Magical, and it's not easy).
OVERALL LOOK
Not obtimal, but AMAZING. I can't imagine how far you can go with this strat on lv1. Don't know about Calamity. The number of wounds REALLY helps for this strat.
SOME BUGS AND RANDOM FEEDBACKS
1. I've mentioned it in other comments, but I think I had some weird stuff happening with the curses. They were repeating themselves.
2. After giving some thoughts, I think the Potion Blessing should not count the Elixir. It should not even limit to 1 potion, for me, if you have the Elixir. The Elixir is a plus to your blessing. It's not convenient to take the Potions Blessing, if it counts the Elixir in some way.
3. The new event with the mannequin is also cool and strong. I changed Urso's Attack to Challenge and he hit the healthiest enemy for 120% dmg, to not waste any attack on weaker monsters that could die in other ways.
4. The event that makes you fuse items with monsters is incredibly crucial to reach further loops. It's so important that, after a while, I kept going for "?" tiles just to find this event. Without it, you can't really improve your team.
QUESTION: Can you fuse two items on the same monsters if you use two different forge sparks? Like, you use the normal one first and then the corrupted one that uses your hp?
5. Dragon Scale is incredible. Nothing else to say.
6. In this run like in other ones, I found myself thinking that Kensei's Weapon (don't remember its name) and even more the Ominous Idol are not on par with the other Legendary Items. The Ominous Idol especially is not that strong. I mean, it is, but not that much. There are rare and even uncommon items more useful. I could be wrong about the Kensei's though, maybe there is someway to use it well, with that +30% to attacks and stuff. I don't think I'm wrong with the Idol, instead.
7. The insane amount of items I had encountered a problem: there is not enough space to really know what do you have, in the UI. This was a real problem when I had to take off some items to switch them, because I literally could not take them again without eating some food. It was kinda annoying. I suggest making it possible to scroll left and right to see what items you have, and/or using a multiplier near identical items (Like "Quickfish X3" or "Dragon Scale x2").
FINAL THOUGHTS
I really had a blast. This game keeps giving. It's so fun trying and finding new strats. I hope one day to have the option of saving mid-runs and/or downloading a full complete version on steam or other platforms to play with more ease.
So you touched on 1 thing that Im not too happy with, and thats everyone always ends up with Min Mana eventually. So theyre super important early than useless later. I'd rather spell spamming to be something you have to intentionally focus on, like with equipment (which would need more options for -mana cost than currently available). Also items going off screen is a big problem lol ive been pushing off addressing it cause it doesnt happen often, but dark harvest is an easy way to get to that point xD. Your Endless Potion idea is coming next patch too.
Yes it is, ahahah. I love fusing items trying to get cool names.
It sounds difficult to balance everything, about min mana and stuff. Congrats for your commitment! I root for you! :D And thank you for always listening and taking in consideration the players' feedbacks, it's really nice ^^
I had a question: Is it possible to fuse more items into one monster, if you use two different types of Forge Spark? A normal one and a corrupted one? Or 1 fused item is the max for a monster?
Woad is most borken monster BY FAR... Harvest with haunted sinergy make every combat minimun 2 foods. That is so much money and power... Check my last loop
Absolutely agree with Woad being very strong, you know what can even bring the run further? Urso. Urso gets DOUBLE effect from food. You can imagine the power with Woad.
I had my best lv3 run ever. It lasted so long that I had to stop just because it's incredibly late here. I completed 11 loops. I could have gone further. Maybe way further, but I really gotta go to bed. Sigh.
I don't have time rn to explain things well as always, but I'll do it tomorrow or the day after.
Here is a sneak peak though.
Can't wait for the completed game, with the option of saving runs midway :'-) <3
Typo Report: In the event with the mannequin that allows you to change attacks is reported that changing to "weakest" gives you +20% dmg, but when you use the item the dmg is 130%, not 120%. Don't know which one is the right one.
Random Feedback: I think the blessing that gives you 2 potions if you have none at the beginning of the battle should not take in consideration the elixir. Because you want of course to keep the elixir for a very important moment, but doing so negates all the benefits of the blessing, which makes you want to use 2 potions every battle.
They really don't cross well, and the elixir is mandatory after a while (if I'm not wrong).
this is a bug where it can offer the 3rd tier of curses before the 2nd, that will be fixed next patch. (if they happened in the right order ALL would have replaced 2)
I love the creature designs for this, they were really interesting to look at! So much variation & really unique designs, both for our monsters and the enemies. Sprigeye's final evo reminds me of majoras mask in a good way, spoopy!
Definitely a pretty hard game, I had to knock the difficulty all the way down and even then only jUST finished off the final boss by the skin of my teeth (shoutout to wyrmlet, absolute legend). Now it is entirely possible thats just me being bad at it tho :P It didn't stop it from being fun though either way which is what matters!
An info thing explaining status effects would be a cool addition since I kept forgetting what silencing did c': Also something explaining the nature of the different map locations, e.g. what to expect at a campfire. I didn't end up going to one until zone 3 lmao. Just pretty minor suggestions tho!
Also I love the additional touch of the compendium, makes unlocking all the evos seem pretty intriguing :0
All in all, great graphics, fun mechanics, had a good time c:
thank you, I had alot of fun designing them. Strig is definitely supposed to fit that wolf-in-sheeps-clothes type monster. It is initially difficult cause of how much info there is to take in. I do plan on expanding the compendium to include things like poison and synergies.
Using the bug to make an overpowered Bloodmist Mask+Harvester so all the enemies are destroyed insanely fast. Didn't realize the bug only worked up until the first boss but it was still fun.
I tried to make another monster tier list like I did a long time ago, but I find it impossible. This game is really too much strat-dependent to think about the single monsters. Some are ok alone, but with other strats become amazing (like Chip with Skimander).
This said, there are three/four monsters that immediately come to mind when I think about the strongest ones.
1. WYRMLET
His ability, with power overflow and the one that gives dmg to everyone after casting is just... Mind blowing. Give him lots of mana regen and he can carry the team if you shield him behind the lines.
In a Max Magic synergy team is unbelievable.
2. SKIMANDER
They do and have everything. Nature and Water synergy, autoswap for various swap strats, Tenacious synergy if you choose so, insane dmg output in front row thanks to their speed... It's hard not to choose them, for me, when I find them around.
3. GORA
This green girl does not seem that strong, but damn. She tanks like and more than a defensive monster, heals tons and is the answer for lots of poison problem. And stuns too. And she also has nature synergy. Underrated.
4. TIZIK
I don't use Tizik often because I prefer teams with different synergies, but I know of their power. Energize is a hella of a drug. That's it. Nothing else to say.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
5. HYDRIM
Heals a lot. Best healer in the game probably. The only reason there is Gora and not Hydrim in the best 4 list is because Gora can tank, while Hydrim can not. But Hydrim gives you Nature AND Water synergy, while healing specifically the weakest one. Like Skimander, they are hard not to pick when I find them around.
6. KARAKAI
Under rated. A lot. His final ability, moonbeam, can match Wyrmlet power sometimes. Circlet of Acuity and Magus Hat are incredible for him. In a magic team he's a beast.
My favorite monster is Mabek and I love Haunted strats and teams, but these 4, I think, are the strongest in general.
As for the Synergies, I think the best are:
- Magical
- Nature
- Water
- Technician
Honorable Mentions:
- Lucky (but only if you can reach MAX, if you can't it's basically useless)
- Haunted (I may be biased though, lol. I love it)
Some abilities are obvious, like Mabek's, that inflicts direct dmg, but others, like Pyris', are not. Pyris' ability applies ignite. If I give him more ability dmg, does ignote inflict more dmg? Or not?
Basically anything that is not caused by an Attack, with a few exceptions. Youre correct about Mabek's balance. Scutter's Vice or Skimander's Slipstrike on the other hand specifically says "Attack" so it is considered attack damage not ability. Pyris's Ignite is affected by ability dmg., same with things like Hulks' Pain Expanse and even main item effects like Enchanted Quill's little extra hit and Hydraquill Crest's retaliation dmg. Bleed and Poison are not due to them not "remembering" their source since they can stack together from multiple different sources, almost every other damaging debuff does count though. The other 2 main exceptions are redirected damage, such as from Voodoo Doll or Spearmen's Shield Wall, as well as Super Moves. These are treated as neither Attack or Ability to prevent doubling up on bonuses and as a way tp prevent infinite redirections (like if 2 people with Voodoos hit each other).
Yeah I autosaved and somehow I could click on the map like when you are choosing a path so I just clicked on the question mark path a bunch of times and somehow when I loaded back I had infinite Healing pool events
Merged+1 isnt a bug, it just lists the amount of times it was tempered after being merged since the rarity cant change anymore. (Same with legendaries being tempered)
I had my best calamity run ever tonight, with the best Wyrmlet I ever had and my favorite doggo... doubled! :P
4 loop and a half! I lost, with my surprise, against the two cannons boss. They were so fast I didn't realize what was happening and I didn't use the potion to avoid death. Silly me ^^'' It was so fast I'm not sure if this happened because the cannons become naturally so powerful or because, maybe, one of them had some items that could help them. Does the patch avoid mid-boss items or just the final boss? Because they hit FAST AS HELL and I thought they had a dragon mask or something. My monsters were continuously stunned :( Is the stun nerf valid for ally monsters too? Or does it only work on enemies?
Anyway, here is the greatest team ever! :D
TEAM NAME: GUARDIANS OF LIFE AND DEATH
PIC FROM 4 LOOP FINAL BOSS WITH THEM STILL ALIVE <3
FINAL PIC WITH THEM DEAD </3
GORA with HUNGER ROOT+1
Gora tanked like the beast she is. I love her. I could not have done it without her help against poison. I managed to give her emboldened soul while she was still at the first stage, sending her to 1000+ hp, and then evolving her to reach 1700+ in time.
Thanks to the incredible amount of healing she received from her attacks, hydridm and, above all, wyrmlet with crystal vial strat, hunger root became incredibly effective. I was hoping to find another living root to reach max Nature synergy, but I was not that lucky.
PARRA with DRAGON SCALE tempered
The Lucky synergy is definitely the weakest (maybe on par with elemental, for me) at first stage, but MAX lucky is amazing. It's not easy to reach normally, but damn, I started with two Mablacks thanks to the glitch, so I just went for it and took Parra and Wyrmlet. Boy if it worked!
Parra is also stronger than people think. I used her a lot with Dragon Scale as a tank and it worked wonders, while helping around with tailwinds.
HYDRIM with VARIOUS STUFF (lol)
When in doubt, I take Hydrim. Nature and Water synergies are great. I used them a lot with Heart of the Ocean + Crystal Vial, before giving it to Wyrmlet, and then I simply gave them whatever I found useful, like the Spyglass at the end.
Nothing to say. They are great.
WYRMLET fused with MEGA MAGUS HAT (tempered) and with HEART OF THE CRYSTAL (tempered)
I will never stress enough how strong wyrmlet with power overflow and magical acceleration is.
The pic speaks for itself. With 4 magical and Mega Magus Hat, Wyrmlet had a +55% boost to all ability dmg, if I'm not wrong, around +7 or 8 mana regeneration at the beginning, and took 6 mana every time an enemy casted. Mind blowing. With crystal vial, he also healed the team continuously. It was amazing. The emitters were his only weakness, punishing his casting, but I managed to keep them at bay enough (I was sure I was gonna lose to them).
Simply amazing.
THE BEST DOGGO CHEATER/GLITCH DUO FROM HELL :P
The egyptian god of death is called Anu-BIS for a reason. Because it comes in pair apparently! :PPPP
I basically had the two legendary pokemon from Sword and Shield. Only one had a big hammer instead of a sword (but the hammer was fused with a sword, so I guess it still counts?)
1 MABLACK with BLOODGUARD+1
2. MABLACK with GIANT PULVERIZER (tempered)
Haunted and Max Lucky synergies were amazing. In calamity Haunted shines a lot, giving you a second chance lots of times.
Mablack is mean with banish and Dying Breath. But DOUBLE dying breath? Ouff... So much damage. So much.
Last wish was a nice bonus healing sometimes too.
Love these doggos.
CURSES, BLESSINGS AND STUFF
CONCLUSIONS
I had much fun. I know this run can't be counted as "valid", since I used two Mabek, but I enjoyed it a lot. Double Mabek is not a broken combination, at the beginning, and maybe not even at the end, but the double dying breath could be too powerful.
Wow. It's so freaking late here. I didn't want to stop playing. Better go to bed ahahah
Wow quite a run! Only final bosses cant get items atm, so it sounds like a Destroyer might have gotten a Bloodmist Mask which would be devastating D: That's a really smart strat boosting a stage 1 monsters HP before evolving it. Also my best run ever was using Parra as my main damage dealer by merging it with 3 Spell Vortices (one double, and another single) plus equipping a Heart of the Ocean. That plus a Tiz giving her tons of spd meant alot of Zephyr stacks for huge cyclones. I dont think double Mabek is stronger than other combos so Im not too worried (the main thing it does that others cant is enables Lucky). Im 90% sure Dying Breath doesnt stack, but ill have to double check. (Also there is a way to get 2 of the same monster during a run!)
Good Parra run, was only on normal mode but 9 loops! Never found enough hats to get Magical 2 too
That's great! This is the first time hearing about your runs, I thought you didn't play at all and only develop ahahah :P
Parra is great <3
I thought the method to get 2 identical monsters was taken away with some of the latest patches. Do you intend to leave it there or do you want to eliminate it?
Anyway, yeah, bloodmst mask explains it then ^^'' I remembered it to be called dragon mask, but yeah, bloodmist.
Is the stun reduction active on friendly monsters too? Or just the evil ones?
the stun resistance is being applied to allies as well but I just discovered it is falling off way faster than I intended. Its still totally possible for duplicate monsters. For Parra I go for Shine Thief for extra power, and Tornado for even more power + saving 1/2 the Zephyr Stacks. Im pretty sure I got the others with Radiant Aurite afterwards too. I dont do many normal runs tho
Thanks to the new event, I changed Mabek's attack to "Challenge", which gives him 120% dmg but it makes him target the healthiest enemy. "Punish" says that his attacks target the last enemy that damaged him, though. Does this mean he attacks with 120% dmg the last enemy that damaged him? Or does the 120% only count against the healthiest?
Also, Mabek's using Giant Shortsowrd + Pulverizer, which makes him attack another enemy in the same row as the main target. Does the 120% count against the other one too?
Lastly, how does the 20% count? Is it 20% of the initial 100? Or does it count as 20% of the dmg he would inflict with the bonus of the giant's pulverizer?
It will still deal the 120% even when redirected, since Punish doesnt replace the attack. Giant's Shortsword also repeats the same attack. The +20% is factored in first, so it calculates as if you had 20% more str not on the final damage. Something like pulverizer would then multiply that total so the order doesnt matter in that case. Something like Mercurial Mace which adds +15 dmg on the other hand, would not be affected by the 20%.
I think the cheat code (the right click at the start) to find Mablack is broken Jay. I think it gives you Mablack without turning off the chance to find it normally, lol.
This said, I'm not complaining ahahahah. Gonna play with double doggo now! :P
Level 3 Infinity Mode Run with Mablack ( nickname for alt skin Mabek :P )
I had a free saturday night and I wanted some light fun, for change. No stress from calamity runs. I didn't finish the run because it is quite late here and I have to go to bed. I quitted after some time, during the 5 loop.
Side note: On safari it didn't give me the "run out of memory" problem, at least not where I reached.
Here is some screenshots!
Team Name: The Luckiest Saturday Night Party
The synergies talk by themselves. Nature, Haunted, Saboteur, Magical and MAX Lucky and MAX Aquatic.
HAUNTED POWER:
I started with Woad and Mabek and I upgraded Woad ASAP to get Dark Harvest. I farmed a lot of foods this way, sacrificing my favorite doggo without losing wounds to see him return from his own reign of death to fight again! Muahahahah! And he brought foods to celebrate his return every time! :P
Later on the sacrifice role fell upon basically everyone except woad, when I found them, for a bit, and it really paid off. I think Dark Harvest and Haunted are under appreciated. Very cool combo.
HEALING EVERYWHERE:
Gora with tons of hp? Check. Hydrim with OMEGA Heart of the Ocean (and tons of hp thanks to the blessing)? Check. Nature Synergy? Check. Woad with Dark Ritual? Check.
Noice.
I wanted to reach MAX Nature, but I could not find a living root :( But I did find like, 4 Hearts of the Ocean, so I guess that balances things out!
WYRMLET CANNON:
As always, Wyrmlet is a beast. Heart of the Ocean + Spyglass and only 15 mana, with Magical active, Wisdom pact, Arcane evolution... Boom. Dmg everywhere.
MABLACK, THE GOODEST DOGGO:
Sure, maybe there are better combo, but I find a lot of satisfaction in Mabek powers, especially the Dying Breath one. It helps tons along the run. Especially against hordes of monsters. I gave him the blessing that gives every synergy almost just because. You know, for funsies! u,u
He is also the stylishest monster around rn, so, yeah, bonus points :P <3
OTHER STUFF
It was fun. I was lucky with the items, as you can see. Heart of the Ocean is great and even better in multiple copies. Spyglass is cool and I think it's great that now it's rare. It was kinda broken before, with all those combos. It's still very strong though.
Poison keeps being a pain in the bottom, especially those emitters that poison you when you cast. When I encountered them I had to take away the hearts of the ocean and use some humble chalices, crystal vials and bloodguards to fight their effects, and sometimes it worked JUST enough. Even with Gora's help, I would have lost for sure in calamity mode with this strat.
As a final side note, I wanted very bad to find the event that fuses items with monsters, but I couldn't :( Damn... Wyrmlet with Ocean Spyglass and Crystal Chalice would have been amazing. Healing everywhere and poison check (a little, at least)
NEW PATCH FEEDBACK
1. The option to always check the map is GREAT. Thank you!
2. Already said. Rare Spyglass works and rocks.
3. Temper is very cool! I like it a lot, nice idea :D
4. The new egg/aurite distribution looks cool. It threw me off at the beginning, but then I made some math and I think it gives you 1 more spot where to get an egg or an aurite, correct? Or is it the same? Before, I could barely have 6 lv3 monsters at the end of the 2 loop, and I had to be careful not to fuck up. Now it seems to be easier.
5. Autosave. It's a very nice addition! I don't know if it works properly though. There is written that it's experimental, so it is expected. I tried to quit and load the game and I am indeed in the same spot with the same monsters and stuff, but it misses the blessings. Also, it triggered a different event than before. I don't think it is intended.
Screenshot after the loading: No blessing/Curses, different event.
I think it's only a visual bug. Even the loop counter has disappeared.
Dunno. Still a cool first try. But maybe one day, with a proper steam or downloadable final release, this will not be necessary :)
EDIT: Closed and reopened safari to check. There is no more save to load ^^'
thats alotta mana! Also that Gora has a ton of hp too. The new egg distribution I believe ends up with 2 extra, so its more forgiving if you miss one, or take a wrong path. Hmm thats not good with the save, I was worried about that, I'll look into it more. The different event wasnt a bug, atm it only saves the location on the map, wanted to make sure it was possible before saving even more specific info.
Quick Bug Fixes: Fixed a bug with random selections sometimes leaving out the last result (why the new event wasn't appearing). Also fixed a bug with Champion's Laurel breaking when you have 5 or more points in one of the synergies.
thank you for playing, Im glad you like em! (theyre actually one of my favs now too). As for how long theyll be in, I dont have any plans for deactivating them, so indefinitely for now, no rush
I don't think I saw them like this. I remember connecting in my mind "gain 1 wound = block sand flow" and expected something to happen, so I don't think I saw the cheap shop part.
This said, I remember I connected the "100+ strength" requirement to the cheap shop, while here I see it is connected to the "100+ def" one.
If I find this event again I'll make sure to take some screenshots of it
I have to say... Poison is still extremely strong, despite the nerf. If I don't cheese with stun and stuff, poison kills me every time when I do Calamity runs. The only way to deal with it is healing a lot, for me. I like to mix up things though, and it's a shame I can't make a team without hydrim, gora or other healers. Dunno. Maybe it is right this way, but I find it frustrating personally.
Usually I find that poison is countered by focusing less on healing and more on damage, but I do most of my testing on the standard difficulty so that might not be as accurate for calamity. I'll definitely take a closer look at it as I test more.
Maybe I'm just a sore loser, I dunno, ahahah. You should ask other calamity players maybe. I could be the only one.
The problem with damage is that it only works if you have few hits with great power, while in the game I find way easier and common to have more hits with less power. Or, alternatively, you continue to cast more and more reducing the mana required to do so.
The problem is that there are the weird virus-like poison emitters (the ones that poison you when you cast) and the round green version of the first poison monsters (the ones that poison you when you attack them) that counter both these strategies.
Dunno, maybe this is not actually a problem. Maybe it's ok if the game allows fewer strategies on harder level and I'm complaining only because I'm not able to play the strategies I want.
A game designer should not modify the game according to EVERY single complain/critique/opinion. But I'm sure you already know that.
I wanted to just give an opinion and, I'll admit, vent a little ahahah.
Thanks for listening anyway.
Maybe I should play on easier modes, but I'm usually a "HARDEST OR NOTHING" type of player, by nature XD Victory in easier modes does not taste like a real victory to me q.q -.- :( DX
Lol
In the end, there are basically two requirements to calamity lv infinity mode: You either use cheese with Skimander / Chip stun synergy or similar ideas, or you do whatever you want but make sure to have enough healing.
If I don't have these two requirements, I'm able to go on for a bit, but not for long. I can also win the calamity level standard mode with not particular issue (despite being it more difficult), but the infinity mode is another matter.
I repeat, I could be the only one with this problem and in that case the game does not have a problem/flaw at all, I just wanted to share my experience, as always, absolutely no offense or attack intended towards you or the game! u,u
thats definitely a legitimate concern, I do want some encounters to be stronger or weaker vs certain teams, but I'd also like to have ways to help deal with them as well. At the moment heavy poison probably has the least amount of ways to deal with. (Also I think conversely player monsters might be attacking and cast too frequently at higher levels which also makes them feel worse to fight)
It is a difficult balance for sure... Maybe it's ok as it is now. Dunno.
As an addendum, today I thought of something and tried a different approach. I used the "defensive" super to tank the poison dmg while making lots of attacks and casts to kill the poison enemies. It worked a bit. It's not the best strat, but it's an option I did not think about before.
I still lost at the third loop, but that's for other reasons, lol.
Maybe I just have to try more stuff and combinations. I probably complained too soon, sorry about that. I'm not having the best of days and maybe I commented my frustrations away here, which was uncalled for.
youre good! Trying new things can help, the Supportive Super clears debuffs so that might be good too, and the technical super deals more damage (and to all enemies) so they might be good to try out too. I know on super hard difficulties sometimes trying something different can be too risky though. Also so much stuff is going on its sometimes hard to tell how much impact individual things are having
there were 5 candy items which each boost a different stat by 12%, but gave -8% to a random different stat. (this one specifically is +Spd). they were part of the halloween event. since they event is over you cant find them anymore but theres a really tiny chance theyll appear in shops now
anything within reason. basically nothing too graphic, close to the same size, ideally somewhat similar to the base so its not to hard to tell which monster it is. Of course references to copyrighted stuff will need to be homages and not copies etc
I really like egyptian gods and for that Mabek is one of my favorite monsters. I'm sad it is not used more in the "meta" (at least I did not see many posts with it).
Can you make an Anubis skin for it? Like, making it a black jackal with very pointed ears and some gold adornments on it?
Anubis is often depicted as a jackal-man, but it can also be simply a jackal. I know Mabek is inspired by a different egyptian god, but I really like Anubis and I think it could be fun to see it in a different way :D
Alternatively, if you think making a jackal out of a crocodile it's too far away from the original, I would also like a "Horus" skin for Parra ^^ Could be cool.
This said, I would still prefer Mabenubis if possible :P
mabeks ultimate feels underwhelming you get a better deal with tanks like kabu, would be cool if it spread the debuffs on the target to all enemies or something
Here's my final attempt at the Candy Contest: the only monster combination I managed to get beyond loop 5 with - far, far beyond loop 5.
I've really been enjoying this game, and all the updates that were added since I first discovered it. Absolutely one of my favorite games on the website, keep up the great work!
Congrats, you won the infinite category! Let me know what alt skin youd like to see, and for which monster. feel free to post it here or message me on discord and I'll see what I can do
what the heck thats so much, hmm i see alot of tactician syn im guessing hydrim + tiz is generating so much mana (along with triple mana pact) that gora is always casting stunning everything. maybe even multiple tiz or goras?
no duplicates involved, the spyglass stacking and repulsors are critical but auxillary
hydrim and gora are mostly for healing and stats, the strat is the best to get candy I could have done easily 5-10 more loops probably as things were going
I had played around with this strat before and it blew my mind how effective it suddenly turned out
Jokes aside, a hell of a run and of a strat ahahah. I would have guessed the same as Jay. Gora constantly casting thanks to various stuff or even multiple Goras. Why don't you show us the details? I understand the pride (deserved) but I don't think it's very nice u,u
Also, I'm envious because my computer explodes between 3 and 4 loop (max I reached I think it was 4' final boss... If I remember correctly), and I can't even try this stuff for myself :( Sadness.
Anyway, cool stuff. I think sharing the details would be potentially helpful for Jay, for balancing and stuff? :)
Ah for the contest you were keeping the secret! I did not think of that o.o'' That makes sense, sorry.
Anyway, that makes absolutely sense. More than once Chip+Skimander brought joy to my runs, but I never got the chance to see the strat brought to this level of madness, lol. I don't even know what could the enemies do if skimander continues to cast and switch chip. I don't think there is enough stun resistance around. It could actually be an invincible strategy! Well freaking done!
I guess that the game could try to stop a bit this kind of strat by adding more stun resistance on some encounters?
the all enemies +50 mana thing is what makes it necessary almost, even with the stun I still got instant killed sometimes in the later runs, just tanked the wounds
Freezed game again :((((((( Same problem, "run out of memory". Very unfortunate...
I was doing very well. A lv5 run. I was in the middle of zone 1, on the 4 loop, and I had a very cool team. First time doing a run thinking of the team I wanted to get, instead of just seeing what I find along the way, and I managed to get it.
I made some screenshots before the 3 loop boss, luckily, so I can at least show the idea, but I could have gone further. It was tough, of course, being calamity level, but it was a good team with nice strat and balance.
I called this team "WATER DRAGONS" :)
The idea is to have a good amount of synergies. 3 Nature and 3 Aquatic can both become potentially 2' stage synergies if you find Living Root or Heart of the Ocean (which I didn't today -_-), there is also a 1' lv Magical, Saboteur and Tenacious, to obtain a very nice balance between healing and dmg.
The key points of the team are Wyrmlet's ability to deal massive dmg to all the enemies, growing exponentially stronger, and the massive healing the team get thanks to Gora and Hydrim together, helped even a bit more by Mudgill's Feeding Frenzy and Skimander's attacks while in the back.
I think that, if you can manage to find a Nature item, the healing this team receives becomes a real problem for every enemy, and with an Aquatic item you really tank the most dangerous abilities. It's great. And if you are having trouble and monsters are dying, the support super is always there to give a second chance, and with the power up healing factor it becomes even better.
The name is "water dragons" because, well, there are basically 4 "dragons" in the team XD And all of them are connected to water somehow. Skimander is a sort of water axolotl dragon, Wyrmlet is literally a blue dragon that seems connected to water, Mudgill is a water-mud shark dragon thing and Karakai is basically godzilla, which is, again, a water dragon kaiju monster XD Hydrim is the ocean itself and Gora... I don't know, maybe it's an algae here ahahah. Well you get the idea.
Magical and Nature are my favorite synergies (Haunted too, but I didn't use it here). I'm happy with this team. Unfortunate to not be able to see how far it can go :(
Oh, also! I want to add that the last patch, with the possibility of visiting the nest after the bosses, improved a lot the road options for the runs and the chance to get the monster you want! Thanks for doing that!
I don't understand. What has the chalice have to do with the run and the freeze?
I don't think it does, anyway. It removes debuffs after casting, but if you are stunned your casting doesn't happen until the stun goes away, so even if "stun" is considered a "debuff", the chalice should be useless, in that sense.
Yeah, in browser... But it must be my pc. If Dave could reach that far before running out of memory, I don't see another explanation :/ Guess I will have to wait for the game to be on steam.
Also, I'm on mac, so I can't use the downloadable version of the game... Yeah, I'm screwed ^^''
It's a shame, I love this game and I want to try different strats I have in mind to reach further and further in calamity infinite mode. One day for sure u,u
Found some neat thing in infinite mode. Had cost reduction by burying an item and cheap shop in the third zone when you fall down and got 100+ in some stat.
You can just buy everything and resell at a profit then restock until it gets too expensive. I think I got 15 food and two legendaries with it.

The enemies flying away with the new patch are so funny ahahah
thats my favorite part honestly lol
I don't know why.
noahs arc of legendaries lol. Mana regen is actually capped at 20 so thats overkill with the hearts
but yea blessings disappearing is a bug with loading.
Holy Macaroni ahahah
Great game, as always <3
HEART OF THE DRAGON is such a cool fusion :D
Or 1 fused item is the max for a monster?
oh sorry I knew I missed something in my reply! Yes, one of each is possible (Fused with item & Fused with item imperfect).
Omggggggg. That's amazing! Hope I can try it next time I do a big run. Thanks!
Woad is most borken monster BY FAR... Harvest with haunted sinergy make every combat minimun 2 foods. That is so much money and power... Check my last loop
Awesome game guys!
This guy with haunted sinergy...
My final stats
great run, so close to 13 curses which woulda been the perfect number for a spooky team :D I like seeing Revenge being paired with haunted too
Absolutely agree with Woad being very strong, you know what can even bring the run further? Urso. Urso gets DOUBLE effect from food. You can imagine the power with Woad.
Can go all out on food by throwing Chip with alchemize in there as well :D
Don't know which one is the right one.
good catch, i had forgot snipe got buffed awhile ago
Uhm... Curse bug? Also, I already had that curse.
hmm its not a bug to see the same one multiple times if thats all thats left, but it shouldnt come up again if you already have it hmm
They really don't cross well, and the elixir is mandatory after a while (if I'm not wrong).
that is a good point, maybe it could give potions until you have 2, so you still get 1 if you hold on to the super one.
Nice idea, sounds working
Maybe bug, maybe something I don't understand.
I already chose "All Monsters start Poisoned" as a curse, but I found "2 Highest HP Monsters start poisoned".
Is this right? Do they stack? Is it intended? The first one looks like the power up of the second.
They both stayed there, so I guess they are not related. Looks weird though. Is this right?
this is a bug where it can offer the 3rd tier of curses before the 2nd, that will be fixed next patch.
100 Str and 100 Spd, very scary lol
Love using the bugs to make things like this.
also has more quills fused to it than is supposed to be possible
lol secret quills. get those glitch runs in now cause a fix will be coming :D
Got myself a birb with a bunch of those swords that also give Zephyr
I love it)
Bonus. Karakai build example. (In a Max Magical team)
Can't remember the butterfly thing's name, but it goes great with a Gora that's holding a circlet of acuity fused with a heart of the ocean.
Question: Ability Damage.
What does count as "ability damage"?
Amazing. Next time I'll try Magus Hat on Pyris then. Thank for the clarification!
Just a little bit of health
big dog O:
Made with about 100 healing pool buffs
UH
There are so many things wrong with this image
What the... Plant3?
And the strange puzzle in inside a battle and the merged items + 1
And also the 10 - 12 heal salves I got from illegal dealers
what happened leading up to this, thats alot of weird things going wrong? Was this after loading a save?
Yeah I autosaved and somehow I could click on the map like when you are choosing a path so I just clicked on the question mark path a bunch of times and somehow when I loaded back I had infinite Healing pool events
Merged+1 isnt a bug, it just lists the amount of times it was tempered after being merged since the rarity cant change anymore. (Same with legendaries being tempered)
Bug Report: Tempered Merged Items lose merged names
Noticed this in my last run, I wanted to report it
Oh, also, I noticed this
When you merge/temper stuff on the anvil, if you check the map the items appear on top of it. Lol.
ty ty! I'll write these down
I had my best calamity run ever tonight, with the best Wyrmlet I ever had and my favorite doggo... doubled!
See ya next time! :D
What abilities did you pick for Parra?
I didn't give her much mana regen because Cyclone cancels all the zephyr stacks and I thought casting a lot didn't work for her!
the stun resistance is being applied to allies as well but I just discovered it is falling off way faster than I intended. Its still totally possible for duplicate monsters. For Parra I go for Shine Thief for extra power, and Tornado for even more power + saving 1/2 the Zephyr Stacks. Im pretty sure I got the others with Radiant Aurite afterwards too. I dont do many normal runs tho
What lv runs do you usually do? :)
Question 3
Is it intended for the cheap forge to cost the same for tempering objects? I hoped to pay less but it costed the same :( Only merging was cheaper.
Good catch, I just totally missed that
Question 2
Great, thanks!
Question: does poison count as "debuff"? Does the unraveling prism remove it?
Yep! At least for the moment! Basically anything that has a negative effect is a debuff.
Fantastic, thanks!
I think the cheat code (the right click at the start) to find Mablack is broken Jay. I think it gives you Mablack without turning off the chance to find it normally, lol.
This said, I'm not complaining ahahahah. Gonna play with double doggo now! :P
Woof woof motherfucker! XD
WOOF WOOOOOOOOOOOOOF
The autosave is broken, if you lose, you can autosave back
But when you autosave all the blessings and curses are gone
Can you uncap stats, i had a monster that his int didnt go more then 120
the stat cap is 999, how were you increasing the int when it stopped?
i was using the fruit.
was it the top one or the bottom one of these?
top one
played it for 3hrs straight, amazing game!!!!
thank you :D
idk why but it gives me the alt skin for Mabek more then it gives me the normal skin.
Thanks as always for the fun, Jay! :D
Oh, question. Is there a limit to the mana regen a monster can have?
Yep, its 20 mana/sec!
thats alotta mana!
This. Is. Amazing.
It's so freaking cooooooooool
I LOVE IT <3
Thanks Jay! :D
New profile pic for sure!
thank you for playing, Im glad you like em! (theyre actually one of my favs now too). As for how long theyll be in, I dont have any plans for deactivating them, so indefinitely for now, no rush
<3
Can I ask you for that cheat code to find the skin? It could be handy. I'll admit, resetting 100 times to find it it's a bit annoying ^^''
done, when on the title screen right click to start
Thank you! :D
Question Event "Leap the Chasm".
When you find that event in which you fall and gain 1 wound, you obtain three options:
1. If you have 100+ strength, you gain 1 wound to find a cheap shop.
2. If you have 40+ speed you gain 1 wound to "Leap the Chasm".
3. You can escape.
In all of my previous runs I could never do the second option, so I tried and... I escaped gaining one wound?
Why should one choose the second option, which requires to have a speedy monster, when the third one is always available and doesn't give you a wound?
Maybe I'm missing something?
I found it again and this time I had the ulterior option "With 100+ def, block sand flow" and... nothing happened o.o''
Are they inactive in infinity mode?
hmm anything with a Stat requirement in that event should lead to a special reward. So it sounds like something is broken...
I see, sorry :/
Im the one who is sorry for breaking the event xD
just to clarify did the options look like
or was it missing the 2nd half "Cheap Shop" / "Better Treasure"?
Damn... I don't remember anymore :/
Thanks for everything, have a nice day Jay.
youre good! Trying new things can help, the Supportive Super clears debuffs so that might be good too, and the technical super deals more damage (and to all enemies) so they might be good to try out too. I know on super hard difficulties sometimes trying something different can be too risky though. Also so much stuff is going on its sometimes hard to tell how much impact individual things are having
sometimes events locked behind a synergy are locked, while I have that synergy
Currently you can only have 1 of the synergy based event blessings. The limit isnt described in game, only an old change log.
ok, thanks.
Btw what is the blessing at the pole, bc I never got it.
that one sets all enemies speed to 0 for 1.5 seconds at the start of every battle
Monster Cola found in store?
I thought the candies were gone, but I found this in a store. Also, during the event I've never found a candy in a store! What's going on? XD
;) ;)
I put them as a really really low spawn chance in shops now
never seen that item, what does it do?
there were 5 candy items which each boost a different stat by 12%, but gave -8% to a random different stat. (this one specifically is +Spd). they were part of the halloween event. since they event is over you cant find them anymore but theres a really tiny chance theyll appear in shops now
Oh wow <3 Very cool idea Jay, thanks!
Spooky season comes to a close, and things go back to normal for now.
Our highest scorers were......
Infinite Mode: Zruty with 356 Candy!
Standard Mode: LaserQuacker with 7 Candy!
Yaaaaaaaaaay!
Thanks for the contest Jay! :D It was very fun <3
I'll think a bit about the alt skin :P Can it be anything?
anything within reason. basically nothing too graphic, close to the same size, ideally somewhat similar to the base so its not to hard to tell which monster it is. Of course references to copyrighted stuff will need to be homages and not copies etc
Ok, I have an idea.
I really like egyptian gods and for that Mabek is one of my favorite monsters. I'm sad it is not used more in the "meta" (at least I did not see many posts with it).
Can you make an Anubis skin for it? Like, making it a black jackal with very pointed ears and some gold adornments on it?
Some time ago I made a pinterest board with some egyptian inspiration for a project. I put here the link for you if it helps communicate the idea: https://www.pinterest.it/SirStarKnight1/egyptian-inspiration/
What do you think?
mabeks ultimate feels underwhelming you get a better deal with tanks like kabu, would be cool if it spread the debuffs on the target to all enemies or something
that sounds great! Mabek is even already somewhat dog shaped lol. And the inspiration of mabek is closely related to anubis too :D
Yaaaaaay!!! Happy you like the idea ^^ Can't wait to see it!
WOW thats absurdly high! I think skim chip might be alittle broken lol. Thanks for all the kind words :D
Congrats, you won the infinite category! Let me know what alt skin youd like to see, and for which monster. feel free to post it here or message me on discord and I'll see what I can do
hey hey if you wanna get an alt costume in i still need to hear what design youd like to see!
ran out of memory (browser webgl no bug just number spam) had something like 188 candy on loop 21 lol
got screenshot for loop 17 with 151 candy, won't tell how I did it for now
what the heck thats so much, hmm i see alot of tactician syn im guessing hydrim + tiz is generating so much mana (along with triple mana pact) that gora is always casting stunning everything. maybe even multiple tiz or goras?
no duplicates involved, the spyglass stacking and repulsors are critical but auxillary
hydrim and gora are mostly for healing and stats, the strat is the best to get candy I could have done easily 5-10 more loops probably as things were going
ahh fuck it not interested in the contest anyway, its chip+skimander stunlock
Unfortunate to not be able to see how far it can go :(
Still a fun ride <3
Oh, also! I want to add that the last patch, with the possibility of visiting the nest after the bosses, improved a lot the road options for the runs and the chance to get the monster you want! Thanks for doing that!
does the chalice remove stun?
?
I don't understand. What has the chalice have to do with the run and the freeze?
I don't think it does, anyway. It removes debuffs after casting, but if you are stunned your casting doesn't happen until the stun goes away, so even if "stun" is considered a "debuff", the chalice should be useless, in that sense.
you got the chalice in your inventory there but you are probably right
Laser is correct, it cant only because stuns prevent you from casting. Effects that remove debuffs can potentially removes stuns otherwise though
:C been trying to reduce the memory usage. This was in browser right? Thats so far in calamity too.
Thanks anyway for all the effort!
my laptop is not highend or anything in fact it overheats and crashes since I bought it, I got a gaming PC but never use it
I don't know what it is then. How much ram do you have? And what browser do you use?
chrome and 4GB ram
How come I couldn't take any one of the paths when my tizik had both 100+ Int and 40+ speed?
thats not good, did you happen to have 1 wound left? These options deal 1 dmg to you too? I should add that to the condition-not-met text.
I'm not sure if I had a wound left, but that information helps, so Thanks!
Found some neat thing in infinite mode. Had cost reduction by burying an item and cheap shop in the third zone when you fall down and got 100+ in some stat.
You can just buy everything and resell at a profit then restock until it gets too expensive. I think I got 15 food and two legendaries with it.
Sounds amazing ahahahah. I imagine the confusion of the merchant that sells you the stuff and then buys it at a higher price ^^'''
