I shared this in the discord but heres some secrets and tips for candy hunting
SECRETS
-Candy has a very low chance from being found after normal battles
-Events that give candy: Weary Traveler-> Choose to carry (req 30 str) gives 1, Charmweaver -> Choose to craft a banner (req a charm) gives 1, Humble Cottage-> Choose Take Candy: gives 0 to 2, Sealed Tomb-> Random chance for a Candy Stash reward (random required stat) gives 1 to 4.
-Candy Baskets are most common in Zone 1 Treasure fights TIPS
-Try to save candy for tier 2 or 3 monsters, their higher base stats mean they get an even bigger boost from the % increase.
-Candy is food, it can be used at campsites to cook meals to affect your entire party! Really make the most of those stat boosts.
theres a little way to get around the 1 of each monster rule. If you do egg sense in the nests in zones 2 or 3 to find a specific egg but dont hatch it, you can still find that same monster in future nests. This is because it only checks if you currently have the monster to exclude it from the list of possible monsters.
I keep getting 4-5 candies. I got that 7 at like, the third run on sunday, and now I can't get past 5, not even 6. It's harder than I thought. If someone can manage to get 8 I don't know how would I able to get more. The grind is hard XD
Longest normal endless run, didn't expect these guys to live for so long but I'm glad the strategy somehow worked. Haunted + Hydrim cheese mostly but all my mon focused on spread out damage. Using super to reverse deaths with Life Force is probably the only reason they made it so far.
7 Candies in Standard Mode :) Best one so far. Just doing a bunch of lv1 runs to see how can you find candies. I'll check out later on the discord server to see there how it's going. What's the max reached rn? And what's the max you can reach, theoretically and realistically?
Oh, also, the alternate skins are very fun ahahah. For now I found Frankie-chip and Yoshi-chikia :P
I have to try the infinite mode still, with the candy hunt. I hope the patches help with the memory problems ^^'' I suspect it is also pc-dependent so... We'll see.
I'm very happy about my 7 then, yay! :D I got very lucky. "?" battles aside, I found candies around. The turtle sage gave me a candy and also some random battles gave me one. I was very surprised!
I'll grind some more in the future and I'll try the infinite one.
Question: I found hydrim with their new red skin. I don't get who they are. Are they a red moon, maybe? Are they blood? >:-P

For now I found the sage turtle master and the one where you fall and take 1 wound in exchange for 1 candy ^^ Still not any better than that 7. I was hella lucky. I got 5 max after that. Never 6. And in the infinite mode I only got like 19... -.-'' How the heck did they reach 51?!
On a good note, I reached the boss on the 4' loop and it did not crash the game! Not sure it will keep so, doing longer runs, but my pc freezed the game at that point, before, so the patch helped at least a bit! :D
Oh, also, question: Is there a difference in playing at different levels, for the candy contest? Is playing at lv 1 and 5 the same? Or do the candies at lv 5 count more?
t i just want to petition for a god mode difficulty, where maybe you make it harder to die. I might want to suggest some new features in this difficulty.

I have a different humble request. I would like a different mode, already hinted in various comments: a "creative" one, where you can create teams however you like before going in battle. Using the same monster twice, choosing which items giving to them... It would be super useful to try out strats before doing actual runs! :D
I know it's calamity, but after reaching 3 loops the last time I'm a bit disappointed at only 2 and a bit. I thought I could make it, but I got drank with power and tried some very crazy combos that really don't care about defense at all ahahahah ^^'''
It was fun nonetheless.
Here is the final team.
Tuskal with Dancing Leaf was... well, Tuskal! Even after the nerf, he's still one of the most powerful monsters and he's very fun to play. I started with slagg and him and together with the bulky synergy they were perfect.
Slagg with Mesmerizing Orb. I was also lucky and got the possibility to fuse them with Blastshell soon in the run. 20% Hp to pay is a lot, but the defence you gain in return is great. 202 defense? That's a tough slug! :P
Parra with Dragon Scale, Windwall and Tailwinds. I tried using her as a defender, in the frontline, and as a support to boost the team's speed. It worked for a bit, but not much. She was the later addiction. This time she didn't work that well in the team, unfortunately. Poor Parra. I still love you <3
Karakai with Heart of the Ocean. One of my favorite monster-item combos. Karakai with Moonbeam is always fun of course, and Heart of the Ocean really gives the godzilla-vibe, other than being a very good combo. With Slagg, they were a very good wall for a while.
Seras with Stick Effigy. Seras was my third addiction and a great one. I already had slagg and tuskal, so Seras really shined with her debilitate, making things easier for tuskal. I gave her lots of different items during the run. I gave her stick effigy later on because of the crazy tactic I used on the next monster... I needed it! XD
In my last battle I didn't give the item to them, for reasons I'm gonna explain later, but for a good part of the run I had this insane magical draconic force that is Wyrmlet + Transcendent Band of Power (Transcendent Band + Ring of Power)! I mean... It is basically suicide, but DAMN IF IT PUNCHES HARD! XD It just keeps casting and giving damage everywhere! And lots of it! I also got the latent power (ice) and it lowered the spd a lot, which was nice.
I even got emboldened soul and gave it to wyrmlet to make him reach 800 hp and lasts a bit more, but it was not enough.
This strategy was fun. The problem is... poison. It's always poison. Truly. I find the poison enemies the most difficult ones in every run. If you attack them, they just decimate your team! >:-( I hate them! XD :(
I usually manage to barely win against them thanks to healing teams, but this team healing was very scarse. I wanted to try something different. It didn't work out.
Oh well, still a fun run :) I will remember this transcendent band of power, ahahah
P.s: I just noticed that I managed to get 7/6 wounds... what the... Did the last two monsters die at the same time?
thats a very valiant effort! I love the idea of parra being a sort of risky tank but yea it becomes too difficult for them in later loops. Poison is being rebalanced next patch so it shouldnt grow in power as quickly from looping. Same with a few other enemies. Also yea its possible for 2 monsters to die at the same time and go over the wound amount, could have been a strong aoe attack or poison.
Yeeeeee, I'm so happy poison is going to be nerfed ahahah. I like tough challenges but I admit it was forcing me to never pick different strats from the healing one ^^'' It limited the fun.

Oh, also! I humbly thought of an idea that I wanted to share, don't know if it's interesting. What if Seras is or becomes immune to poison? Very often I found myself thinking "she is a snake, and a venomous one, why does poison affect her?" XD I know it's a "narrative" side of thinking and maybe it doesn't work on a mechanic-balancing standpoint, but dunno, I found it an interesting idea. You can ignore it or pick it up as you wish of course, it's your game u,u
hmm possibly! It would certainly help mechanically because Seras likes long battles and well... poison gets really dangerous the longer you wait. If it were to get added, immunity would be too strong though, it would have to be something like resistance.
It happened to me too. Jay answered saying that "currently you are only allowed to get 1 of those "area blessings" from the events, but theyre abit stronger now". I don't know if they meant in infinite mode only or in both the modes.
I was doing a run at lv 1 for fun and to see what's exactly beyond loop 3, when the game crashed. On the web window briefly appeared a pop up that said something like "out of memory, please if you are the developer do x and y" :/
I'm on mac and google chrome.
Unfortunate :( I wanted to run the game at normal level later, to see how far could I go with that, but if the game crashes after the 3 loop...

Parra with Dancin Harvester (which she didn't use much before the end, unfortunately). I think she helped a lot with her speed, tailwind and the magical sinergy with Wyrmlet.
Seras with Gravity Hammer (because why not?). This was the first time I managed to beat the final boss at the first loop and I did not know that later on I would not be able to take crystals, anymore, and so Seras remained at 2 stage. Who knows how far would I have been able to go with her at 3 stage! Next time!
Gora with Living Armor+Living Root. Gora was the healer of the team. I really liked the Root Restoration ability. And nature with Woad is always very cool. I started the run with Woad and Gora.
My boy <3 Woad with Living Crest (Living Armor + Yggsomething Crest). Tank of the team. Who needs Defensive monsters? :P Also, Dark Harvest was amazing! I managed to get killed only one monsters in many battles, to trigger Dark Harvest and not suffering the wound thanks to Haunted Sinergy. Lots of food this way! It was not enough to surpass the 4 loop, unfortunately, but het, 3 is not bad! (I think?)
Wyrmlet with MEGA HEART OF THE OCEAN. Yeah. Finding Wyrmlet later in the run was amazing. I knew it would have been key to spread dmg around with its ability. And Power Overflow + Mega Heart of the Ocean + Magical + Maginuts to reduce Mana + Stuff around = LOTS OF DAMAGE
I forgot to check them at the moment of death, but these are the curses and the blessings just 1 boss shy of the final moment (I think? I don't remember the exact moment? Maybe it was after the boss...)
The item curses are really scary rng. Sometimes they are nothing special, sometimes they are SCARY, sometimes are actually useful for you (like when they get an item that replaces their ability, but it's very rare).
The blessings are very cool. The potion one is amazing. I don't know if it's possible to find it after only one loop, but if it is, WOW. The chance to find the salve that heals 2 wounds is great. It helped a lot.

I like Infinity Mode a lot. It's hella hard ahahahah! In the end, every battle felt like a boss battle. It was very very hard. I wanted to save the game, rest and go back to play later on, but here on web I could not do it :/ One day maybe it will be possible (?) :D

A question: What's the highest loop you and/or anyone reached at Calamity Mode right now? I want a leaderboard XD
P.s: Maaaaybe I found a bug? I had the Nature Synergy but this event didn't allow me to get the blessing. I don't know why. Maybe something with the Infinity Mode? It never occured in the past in the normal mode.
Wow that was fast, 3 is great! I usually only get around that on normal mode lol. I always say this but I really like seeing how different everyones strategies are. There should probably be an earlier warning that the eggs and crystals are not going to be available, but it might be spread out more next patch. With the item curses I think they will need to not give items to end bosses, cause their abilities being replaced completely weakens them. You are correct tho, the Greater Blessings you get for beating the loop are dependent on which loop you are on (after 3 you just get a special potion too). Most people dont play on calamity in infinite, but I think the highest normal mode loop I saw in the discord was around 8. In regards to the Poison Grove, thats not a bug, currently you are only allowed to get 1 of those "area blessings" from the events, but theyre abit stronger now. I'm glad you are enjoying the update!
Yeah, for sure the personalization aspect of the game, that allows you to choose different strategies, is one of the best if not the actual most bestest fun part of the game! :D It gives it a lot of longevity and it makes you want to go back to play it after hiatuses, like I did.

After a long hiatus from this game, I came back to give it a try again. I lost my touch a bit and I lost three or four runs before winning again at Calamity mode, but I did it. I like the new items and the minor changes here and there!
Question: Is Tuskal still broken? I avoided it to not "cheat" but I would love to use it again if it's been fixed.
Anyway, win with a weird team here. Not my old "three max levels" monster team, strange enough. I just healed through everything, lol. Techni-Support for the win!
Dunno, it feels way harder. Lots of items that appeared a lot before don't appear anymore. Dragon Scale, Iron Will, all the legendaries... As you can see by the items of this run, I did not find many rare ones. Not as many as before. I used lots of uncommon and it was HARD XD
Also, Tusk now feels pretty ok! I managed to lose with it so yeah ahahahah But it was not a great loss. It feels ok! :D
kind of sad eventually the blessings just become the potion only, would've loved a party with a fuck ton of hp, lmao. but i'm doing quite well.. although had to abuse a few bugs to do so.
You are supposed to eventually lose but definitely not like this. What happened just before it locked, is that after a reward or a new battle failing to start? What bugs were you exploiting, I see there's 2 Difficulty indicators there, and 2 hydrims?? I will prob add a few more blessings / curses but enemies will always eventually outscale the player.
this was actually an older bug before difficulty was even a thing, you could spam the play button fast enough and it would activate and appear again, allowing you to pick starters twice. i tried this with difficulty when it got added... but failed to. but this update made it easy to do so. hilarious glitch, lovely how it actually functions well in game. i like using 2 hydrims and a tizik or 2 tizik and a hydrim, as it basically makes a mana generator for the whole party (and easily makes the buffed ones reach 999 speed and def fast) could you please keep the glitch in the game or make it into some silly sandbox gamemode where you just get to mess around, i love breaking games and i'm sure a lot of other people do too, lmao.
also i see a softlock as a win for endless mode tbh, i outlived the game.
Hi Jay -- this is a very cool game; It runs on Wine, except for one thing: Once you mouse-away from the window you can no longer click or drag anything. The mouse-over events continue to fire, but the buttons don't work. ... also the sound/music settings and window position don't save. if they did then restarting would be less of an issue ;-) had a great time, just thought i'd let you know!
thanks, and that's good to know! I have no way of testing for Linux so everything is made without taking that into account. Settings in the menu currently dont save anywhere, so thats normal tho lol
looks like mana can't go below 10 .. and if you try, you loose the nut. bug? p.s. that run was a great deal of fun, please don't nerf tuskal, he's great for learning about the other guys!
Yep mana's current limit is 10, though I am still considering making that even higher. There could probably be a message when you hit the limit, or just return the food if you are at the limit. Also thats a really impressive win with only 2 monsters :D but also probably shows why Tusk is too strong lol
i got to fuse 2 smithed rares into him really early. that made it possible to try for a 2 monster win with super as a backup. if you nerf him, super will be get used like what? once? twice? per game. as is you can try to roll 2 monster combos that make it to lvl 2 and gamble on events. anyway, i don't think i could have done it without fusing a dmg and regen rare. also, yes, declining the food would be it :-)
Well done :D, yea atm you typically get to use the super once in zone 2 and once in zone 3, unless you have some super boosting items ie Royal Banner, Charge Stone, Transcendent Band. I do intend to introduce more items that interact with Super tho.
I think thats a really good point, unneeded food is probably better to sell than to get a minor boost out of on a monster that doesnt use it well. Im happy to see Slagg doing well :D, those are some really good items too tho

using candy is tricky due to the debuff, hitting speed or HP really hurts over time
By the end of the month, I know I will not be able to do lv5 runs anymore. I'm doing too many lv1 just for the candy contest. Lol.

Laser is correct, atm you can only have one of those. Its unclear cause it only states it in the patch notes

Parra with Dancin Harvester (which she didn't use much before the end, unfortunately). I think she helped a lot with her speed, tailwind and the magical sinergy with Wyrmlet.
Seras with Gravity Hammer (because why not?). This was the first time I managed to beat the final boss at the first loop and I did not know that later on I would not be able to take crystals, anymore, and so Seras remained at 2 stage. Who knows how far would I have been able to go with her at 3 stage! Next time!
Gora with Living Armor+Living Root. Gora was the healer of the team. I really liked the Root Restoration ability. And nature with Woad is always very cool. I started the run with Woad and Gora.
My boy <3 Woad with Living Crest (Living Armor + Yggsomething Crest). Tank of the team. Who needs Defensive monsters? :P Also, Dark Harvest was amazing! I managed to get killed only one monsters in many battles, to trigger Dark Harvest and not suffering the wound thanks to Haunted Sinergy. Lots of food this way! It was not enough to surpass the 4 loop, unfortunately, but het, 3 is not bad! (I think?)
Wyrmlet with MEGA HEART OF THE OCEAN. Yeah. Finding Wyrmlet later in the run was amazing. I knew it would have been key to spread dmg around with its ability. And Power Overflow + Mega Heart of the Ocean + Magical + Maginuts to reduce Mana + Stuff around = LOTS OF DAMAGE
I forgot to check them at the moment of death, but these are the curses and the blessings just 1 boss shy of the final moment (I think? I don't remember the exact moment? Maybe it was after the boss...)
The item curses are really scary rng. Sometimes they are nothing special, sometimes they are SCARY, sometimes are actually useful for you (like when they get an item that replaces their ability, but it's very rare).
The blessings are very cool. The potion one is amazing. I don't know if it's possible to find it after only one loop, but if it is, WOW. The chance to find the salve that heals 2 wounds is great. It helped a lot.

I like Infinity Mode a lot. It's hella hard ahahahah! In the end, every battle felt like a boss battle. It was very very hard. I wanted to save the game, rest and go back to play later on, but here on web I could not do it :/ One day maybe it will be possible (?) :D

P.s: Maaaaybe I found a bug? I had the Nature Synergy but this event didn't allow me to get the blessing. I don't know why. Maybe something with the Infinity Mode? It never occured in the past in the normal mode.
Wow that was fast, 3 is great! I usually only get around that on normal mode lol. I always say this but I really like seeing how different everyones strategies are. There should probably be an earlier warning that the eggs and crystals are not going to be available, but it might be spread out more next patch. With the item curses I think they will need to not give items to end bosses, cause their abilities being replaced completely weakens them. You are correct tho, the Greater Blessings you get for beating the loop are dependent on which loop you are on (after 3 you just get a special potion too). Most people dont play on calamity in infinite, but I think the highest normal mode loop I saw in the discord was around 8. In regards to the Poison Grove, thats not a bug, currently you are only allowed to get 1 of those "area blessings" from the events, but theyre abit stronger now. I'm glad you are enjoying the update!
Yeah, for sure the personalization aspect of the game, that allows you to choose different strategies, is one of the best if not the actual most bestest fun part of the game! :D It gives it a lot of longevity and it makes you want to go back to play it after hiatuses, like I did.

After a long hiatus from this game, I came back to give it a try again. I lost my touch a bit and I lost three or four runs before winning again at Calamity mode, but I did it. I like the new items and the minor changes here and there!
Question: Is Tuskal still broken? I avoided it to not "cheat" but I would love to use it again if it's been fixed.
Anyway, win with a weird team here. Not my old "three max levels" monster team, strange enough. I just healed through everything, lol. Techni-Support for the win!
Now I gotta try the infinite mode! :D

Dunno, it feels way harder. Lots of items that appeared a lot before don't appear anymore. Dragon Scale, Iron Will, all the legendaries... As you can see by the items of this run, I did not find many rare ones. Not as many as before. I used lots of uncommon and it was HARD XD
Also, Tusk now feels pretty ok! I managed to lose with it so yeah ahahahah But it was not a great loss. It feels ok! :D
my tactic is to upgrade karakai to unleashed, reduce his mana and increase his intelligence, and just enjoy a almost constant beam of death

kind of sad eventually the blessings just become the potion only, would've loved a party with a fuck ton of hp, lmao.

You are supposed to eventually lose but definitely not like this. What happened just before it locked, is that after a reward or a new battle failing to start? What bugs were you exploiting, I see there's 2 Difficulty indicators there, and 2 hydrims?? I will prob add a few more blessings / curses but enemies will always eventually outscale the player.
this was actually an older bug before difficulty was even a thing, you could spam the play button fast enough and it would activate and appear again, allowing you to pick starters twice. i tried this with difficulty when it got added... but failed to.
but this update made it easy to do so.
hilarious glitch, lovely how it actually functions well in game.
i like using 2 hydrims and a tizik or 2 tizik and a hydrim, as it basically makes a mana generator for the whole party (and easily makes the buffed ones reach 999 speed and def fast)
could you please keep the glitch in the game or make it into some silly sandbox gamemode where you just get to mess around, i love breaking games and i'm sure a lot of other people do too, lmao.
also i see a softlock as a win for endless mode tbh, i outlived the game.
I'll check it out! I did have some ideas for a "free" mode of sorts that doesnt have the same restrictions, just lots to figure out.

Hi Jay -- this is a very cool game; It runs on Wine, except for one thing: Once you mouse-away from the window you can no longer click or drag anything. The mouse-over events continue to fire, but the buttons don't work. ... also the sound/music settings and window position don't save. if they did then restarting would be less of an issue ;-) had a great time, just thought i'd let you know!
thanks, and that's good to know! I have no way of testing for Linux so everything is made without taking that into account. Settings in the menu currently dont save anywhere, so thats normal tho lol
looks like mana can't go below 10 .. and if you try, you loose the nut. bug? p.s. that run was a great deal of fun, please don't nerf tuskal, he's great for learning about the other guys!
Yep mana's current limit is 10, though I am still considering making that even higher. There could probably be a message when you hit the limit, or just return the food if you are at the limit. Also thats a really impressive win with only 2 monsters :D but also probably shows why Tusk is too strong lol
i got to fuse 2 smithed rares into him really early. that made it possible to try for a 2 monster win with super as a backup. if you nerf him, super will be get used like what? once? twice? per game. as is you can try to roll 2 monster combos that make it to lvl 2 and gamble on events. anyway, i don't think i could have done it without fusing a dmg and regen rare. also, yes, declining the food would be it :-)
Well done :D, yea atm you typically get to use the super once in zone 2 and once in zone 3, unless you have some super boosting items ie Royal Banner, Charge Stone, Transcendent Band. I do intend to introduce more items that interact with Super tho.

I think thats a really good point, unneeded food is probably better to sell than to get a minor boost out of on a monster that doesnt use it well. Im happy to see Slagg doing well :D, those are some really good items too tho
